1 small feature to increase SoundCloud’s user engagement & retention

SoundCloud is my go to app for music. I use it to discover new artists, listen to my favourite radio shows, and upload my own creations. When I get a new follower I like to follow them back, you know, show a bit of love. More often than not this new connection reposts a bunch of garbage filling my feed with stuff I don’t want to listen to. I can’t hit play on my SoundCloud feed and walk away, I have to continually skip tracks to filter through the crap.

There are some people I follow always post and repost great stuff and I want to hear everything they’re sharing. The problem is, I often miss their new uploads and reposts only discovering them when I visit their profile page.

I have the same problem with Twitter. The difference is Twitter has the “Turn on notifications” feature. It’s great, I’m updated as soon as my favourite tweeters post so I can reply instantly and be part of the conversation from the start.

Why can’t I do the same on SoundCloud?

A “Turn on notifications” feature for SoundCloud seems like a no-brainer to me. It’s just 1 small feature that would increase Soundcloud’s user engagement & retention.

Here’s what it could look like.
